Android 6.0 Marshmallow plan for ASUS Smartphones

Android 6.0 "Marshmallow" is a version of the Android mobile operating system. First unveiled in May 2015 at Google I/O under the codename "Android 'M'", it was officially released in October 2015.

Marshmallow primarily focuses on improving the overall user experience of Lollipop, introducing a new permissions architecture, new APIs for contextual assistants (a feature notably leveraged by "Google Now On Tap"—a new capability of the Google Search app), a new power management system that reduces background activity when a device is not being physically handled, native support for fingerprint recognition and USB Type-C connectors, the ability to migrate data to a microSD card and use it as primary storage, as well as other internal changes.

Today on Zentalk, ASUS Official Forum announced ASUS Smartphones which get Android Marshmallow upgrade support.

[Android 6.0] CyanogenMod 13.0 For ASUS PadFone S/X

CyanogenMod 13 will be the next version of the world’s most popular custom ROM for Android, and based on Android version 6.0 Marshmallow. Couple days ago XDA Recognized Developer Quarx succeed to build CyanogenMod 13 for ASUS Padfone S. The ROM is Boot-able but still in alpha stage with several bugs and maybe cause random problems but it's a huge steps to further development of ASUS Padfone S/X.

How to Install CyanogenMod 13 on ASUS Padfone S/X :

1. Make sure you have installed custom recovery like CWM/TWRP. If doesn't Download: CWM/TWRP and flash .img via fastboot mode.
2. Unlock bootloader (Be aware! Unlock tested only on 11.10.7.18, 11.10.7.17, 11.10.7.11, 11.10.7.6, 11.10.6.1, 12.2.2.21, 12.2.2.13) with CrowLock_RC3.zip
3. Wipe Data
4. Flash the zip (Download CM 13 .zip )
5. Install Gapps (download)
6. Reboot and be enjoy CM13.0!

Known bugs: 

1. Dock/PAD not work. 
2. Camera can't save photos. 
3. Probably more bugs....

Industry analysts microblogging Pan Jiutang said Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor for December 2015 was shipped, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor available for smart phones, at least until March 2016. so Now it seems to grab the first branch 820 processor, mobile phone, is likely to be the Asus PadFone S2.

If PadFone S2 is really launched in early March next year, and perhaps more likely to be the first smartphone equipped with Snapdragon 820 processor.

How to Flash ASUS Padfone S PF500KL

Today Asus Zenfone Blog will share tutorial How to Flash ASUS Padfone S PF500KL with stock firmware/update firmware. With this method (method 2) you can flash your padfone s in case your padfone s is bootloop or can't enter homescreen. These methods will wipe all your data, so backup first before you do this tutorial.

Method 1 (Update/Flash via Internal Storage)

1. Download the .zip firmware from ASUS website : http://www.asus.com/Phones/PadFone_S_PF500KL/HelpDesk_Download/ (Driver and Tools> Select OS Android> Firmware) Make Sure you download the same SKU with your Padfone S ( TW>TW, WW>WW). you can see your SKU at Build Number
2. After Download .zip firmware, then place it to Padfone S internal storage (not sdcard)
3. Then go to settings>About>System Update>Check for Update
4. Wait for Notification to update (If no notification try rebooting device)
5. Choose the .zip package and wait until finish.

Method 2 (Flash via Recovery)

1. Download the .zip firmware from ASUS website : http://www.asus.com/Phones/PadFone_S_PF500KL/HelpDesk_Download/ (Driver and Tools> Select OS Android> Firmware) Make Sure you download the same SKU with your Padfone S ( TW>TW, WW>WW). you can see your SKU at Build Number
2. After Download .zip firmware, then place it to SDCard
3. Insert SDCard to Padfone S
4. Turn off Padfone S then enter recovery by pressing power+volume down
   
5. After above image shows, choose 1. boot to recovery Mode
6. Then at Recovery mode, choose wipe data and factory reset
   
7. Choose apply update from external storage, and choose your .zip firmware
8. Wait until Finish

One of the main features of the PadFone series is the Dynamic Display technology. In short it’s the switching between the screens while still staying in the active app without the loss of data. It enables seamless transfer of applications from the phone to the tablet.

If the application is abnormal while inserting PadFone to Station, please try to enable "Keep all applications alive". You may refer to the steps below for more information.
